Refactoring

I am about to go through a pretty intensive process of refactoring all of our code into a form that would meet all of the highest professional standards. It’s not actually difficult at all, its mainly just time consuming. The reason I’m doing this now is because when this project started it was a spur of the moment burst of ideas that had to be put into code before they could be lost, now that the basics are all present it is time to let professionalism catch up.

Once this refactoring is done this thing will have more than enough documentation that it would be extremely easy for a new coder to pick up if desired and start making source modifications.

Along with this update will come a slight redesign to the website’s layout with a few more tabs being added and additional room for information being reserved.

We have purchased and mapped a big girl domain for this site, our new primary domain is:

Feels good to start of the year with a more respectable URL behind our name, not that we’re a serious team to begin with.

Still, someday when Melodious Games is a big name developer we’ll already have handled figuring out what domain we want.

Update: Our artist situation is still uncertain but we are also very early in production and art assets are not currently high on the priority list. (ie; expect to see ONLY placeholder art for quite awhile)

It’s been quite awhile since this blog was created but the waiting is over, Melodious Games finally has a project to work on. Said project is a platformer game in the style of the Megaman X series, but with candy colored ponies for its flavoring. Yes, I am indeed talking about the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series, it will serve as inspiration for events, characters, and base story for our game (though we’ll take it in directions that are highly unlikely for the show).

For awhile these posts will cover mainly content creation tools updates as well as some general questions.
